OCC Lip Tar Swatches

Camera Ready Cosmetics recently had a sale on OCC Lip Tars where they were priced for $7.79 each as opposed to their normal price of about $13 (or $10.40 at the OCC main website if you have their pro discount).

I've been wanting to pick some up for a while....and of course I couldn't make excuses any longer at that price. My only regret was that I wasn't fast enough to get Tarred, Traffic, and the much talked about Grandma. You see, my original plan was to make sure I secured all the primary colors so my inner child could mix and match as much as she wanted. However, that plan failed fairly quickly since the CRC website wasn't exactly working well with my phone (checkout was a little difficult for me as I normally use firefox but had to switch to the regular internet....which likes to try to redirect me back to firefox >_>....-1 point for Android and competitive shopping).

I did manage to snag 8 pretty cool colors though! So I can't really be mad at that, I'll just pick up those three some other time.

Anyhow. The colors I bought were (in the order shown in the below picture): Katricia, Femme, Plum, RX, NSFW, Anlog, Anime, and Interlace.

I did quick lip swatches as well.

The rumors are true. They are pigmented and it only takes a little to get full coverage. They also stain (some of them quite quickly) which meant I had to move quickly since I wasn't looking for a weird multi-colored stain.

Oh. And they smell like peppermint.

Interlace:

Femme:

Plum:
Plum was one that looked gorgeous on straight out the tube. No work extra work needed.

 Katricia:
Don't be fooled by the below. She looks more like the above picture in color. My lighting is off.

 Analog:

Analog looks more brown on to me than it shows in pictures. I LOVE this color though...would probably be an effortless nude on someone with a darker complexion than mine..I'll make it work though.

NSFW & RX (true primary colors..Rejoice inner painter!)

 NSFW

RX
(this one stains quickly so I wanted it off quickly...i apologize for being sloppy)

 Anime:

Anime doesn't look like much in the pictures....but it sure is neon. I kind of looked at it and said "oh" because the description was spot on.

As of right now, I am satisfied and looking forward to playing with the colors I have to come up with something fun. I definitely like the idea of being able to mix and the fact that you really don't need a lot for coverage. The drops I have in the pictures sometimes ended up being way more than I needed for my lips.

That's all from me today!

Disclaimer: Items mentioned were purchased with my own money in a moment of weakness at the sight of a sale.

I'm On Bloglovin!

With all the hoopla about Google making changes to their Google Friend Connect, I went ahead and made the jump to Bloglovin.

I can now be found on there and am also in the process of looking for the blogs I follow and such on as well so I can go ahead and get used to it.

If you're looking for me on there, just click HERE! and it'll take you right to me.

Easy!!

I'll see if I can add a little widget soon or post this again to continue to make it easy to find me.

Wigs, Lens, and Bottom Lashes

Are what I'm liking right now. Still need to work on the bottom lashes though. Because I'm not used to them, they're a little awkward.

Halloween!

I didn't go out or dress up, but I did get the urge to play in some makeup tonight!

Instead of MAC loving Barbie, Jelly loved Barbie tonight!

One of them I'm wearing my Sesame Grey Lenses...

My eyeshadows are all Sugarpill: Tako, Midori, Dollipop, Poison Plum, and Bulletproof.
My cheek color is actually Dollipop.
The pink gloss is by Danielle Lewis Beauty in Logan (more on that later though!).

Was fun to put some color on for once (and a wig!) to change things up a bit.

Hope everybody had a fun and safe Halloween!

Workshop + Photoshoot

I recently traveled down to Maryland for a workshop being given by Renny Vasquez. It was three days full of makeup, business, laughs, and all around fun. I have to say, not only did I learn a lot, but I really met a lot of great people.

I never quite came down from that weekend cause I've been happy ever since!

Anyhow, beyond just the learning part of the workshop, it ended with us having the opportunity to do makeup for a model or on ourselves for a profile picture. I chose to do a model and here is my best shot:
Nice, simple, and pretty! She was so cute, and a good sport since she was originally just there with her mom. My model didn't show and she just happened to be around and let me use her. I loved her lip ring.....not going to lie...I think I want one now lol.

It was a very good weekend....and I got to eat Chick-fil-A for the first time in months....I was craving it~ Silly silly.

FOTD: Red Lips

Since I dyed my hair back to a darker color I've been wearing bolder lips. I'm very excited about that.
So, simple liner and more on the lips it will be for a while.

Face:
MAC Matchmaster foundation in 6.0
NARS Taos blush

Lips:
MAC Hot Tahiti lipstick
Smashbox lipgloss in Siren mixed with a little of MAC Caqui lipgloss

In other news....I think I'm really enjoying this matchmaster foundation! The color fits me pretty well and it feels natural on the skin! I still want to wear it for a full week though before I completely sign my love away to it.

Peek a Boo~

Was playing around with my camera this weekend.

I actually never knew how hard it was to take self portraits with lights and things alone. Which I guess is part of the whole "self" thing.

I finally, OFFICIALLY have internet again so I will be posting a lot more now. Exciting right?!

Summer Makeup: There or Bare?

I downloaded FireFox for Android and now I'm able to finally read my bloglist from my phone and update properly as well! I wish I knew this before but its still nice to be connected again.

Idon't have any pictures this time, but instead a question. I'm curious about what everyone's summer makeup routine has been looking like!
for me, I've been keeping it super simple. mascara, cream blush, lipstick simple. I tend not to wear foundation or even tinted moisturizer during summer months. My main concern is SPF and as long as I have that , I figure I'm good!

so what does everyone else do during the summer months? and if you have already done a post on it and its not too much trouble, send me a link! I would love to read it!

NOTW: Essie Tart Deco

I've been wanting to try this color for a while and finally got the chance when I went for a manicure! I think the color is really fun without being overly bold. Nice~

Moshi Moshi.

Back to no internet! But you know what, it really isn't that bad once you get used to it. It is annoying to have to go elsewhere when you need it though.

Since moving in, a lot more has been going on than I originally expected would be.So here is a short story of my life in pictures with some commentary.

First up, I've been in the city almost every day this week, which is up from about one day or so a week previously. Sad thing is, I never have an objective so I just wander around. The good part is that all that wandering is good exercise. I bet my poor car misses me.

I've snapped pictures of myself on the ferry:
I've enjoyed sushi numerous times. When the mood strikes, go for it! I've also mad note of some places I would like to try over the next few weeks in the city. New Ramen spot included.. (I swear I'm not cheating on you Ippudo!)
I've finally gotten the chance to wear my Bambi Apple Green lens. This picture makes me look like I'm on my creeper status and I love that. I am a closet creeper.
Drinks with friends in the city. Apparently I'm thought of as too serious and not the type of person you can just have fun with, but I'm glad that perception has changed, which means I get more invites to do things now. I'm always happy! If you want me to look the part though you have to catch me at the right time lol
And finally a neighbor threatened to tow my car for parking in front of his house. I nicely let him know via picture of the parking sign that I can in fact park there and if he doesn't want anyone parking there then put his car there instead. He likes to park in the guest spots instead of his private, five star parking spot >_>. Well..he got the message and I still get a chuckle from the letter =]

Other than that...I've been busy trying to find a second job. Trying to upgrade my Freelance status at MAC to something permanent...Not really working though. Been exploring other avenues too though.

I'll probably be absent for a little bit again. Sometimes my phone doesn't let me leave comments, but I have been reading everyone's blogs. I apologize that I can't add in for conversation.

Hope everyone is doing well and I appreciate the new followers I've gotten and the ones who continue to come!

Okaeri~

Lately, the only things I've been buying have been books, since I wasn't able to sign up for a class or two this summer but still want to learn, and things for my apartment. So to have bought something makeup related that doesn't have pages is a pretty rare treat these days lol.

With that being said, these are the two items I received in the mail yesterday.

MAC Caqui and All of My Purple Life Lipglasses

Caqui and All of My Purple Life

Caqui

All of My Purple Life
I had a mirror when I did Caqui, but not All of My Purple Life which would have been helpful.

I love both colors for different reasons. They're both pigmented and bold in their own right in terms of color (I still to pinks/my lips but better colors mostly). I like Caqui because I've been wanting to try some kind of orange, but figured a lipstick would be too much for me...so this is a nice medium. Baby steps. Besides, I think it has excellent summer potential. I like All of My Purple Life because never in my dreams would I pick up such a purple color for my lips, regardless of the fact that it's my favorite color...unless it was on a whim. Surprisingly, AOMPL makes me want to experiment....I actually have a few ideas in my head. The funny things colors can do when they're in unexpected forms.

I maybe had two other colors I was looking at, but I'm unsure if I'll go back and get them =[. At the very least, I am please with what I have though! As a whole, this collection had me more interested in MAC because I think the blogger's who participated made some colors that weren't like a rehash of things that has already been put out by them before.

I'm off now~ I'll be back sooner than the gap between this post and last.

Finally have some form of internet in the new place!

My first week here is coming to an end and it kind of feels like it has been longer than that.

Of course I'm still finding things that I need to get, like spatulas and such, but so far it feels pretty nice to come home to my own space after work every day.

Anyhow, regular posting shall resume shortly after this. I was just trying to get the work and home schedule in order.

More Nailpolish~

Found Essie French Affair and Coat Azure for $4.19 in Walgreens.

But you know....I walked out without getting what I originally went into the store for.

This week I'm paying my deposit/security on my first apartment and I'm excited, but confused. I'm happy because I'll have a place where I can keep my Alien Bees up if I choose...but it is definitely an experience for me since this will be my first place REALLY on my own.

Post graduation (from december until my official ceremony on the 14th and such) has been something else for me. I feel like I've made a bunch of accomplishments and did a jumble of cool things in such a short span of time. I'm almost ready for a nap now lol.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Memorial Day weekend! I'll be back shortly =]

A Scene (or two) From My Garden

A quick picture of my tomatoes and broccoli leaves. Everything is growing wonderfully and the broccoli leaves feel sooooooo good when I touch them. They're thick and lovely...almost velvety. I'm so proud of my plants!

Besides those two, i'm growing strawberries, peas, beets, onions, green peppers, chili peppers, spinach...and I think that's it besides my grape plant that so far only has 3 leaves on it lol.

O2B2 DC May 2011

I'll be honest, when I first heard about the Out of the Beauty Box Tour, I really wasn't sure about it. While it wasn't nearly as expensive as some of the other class options I had once been looking into, it still was still quite a lot of money to plunk down from my transitioning college budget.

So, I did some research. Fished around, stalked the site (found here), read reviews, and then repeated the process for a while as I thought it over before finally deciding to go ahead and do it.

Actually, I'm really glad I did. So, my thoughts are:

  • Koren was an excellent teacher. He moved at a nice pace, answered all of our questions, kept the mood light, and was super cool to meet. (Also told me how to get eyelash glue off my shirt!)
  • The class was very informative, going over things like color theory and Koren threw in lots of tips and tricks that could help improve your speed and technique
  • I would imagine that this class could be repetitive for those that do makeup on others often but I think a person would still be able to manage to pick up something new.
  • In regards to the above, if that is the case....the class is still worth its cost because of the kit you receive
  • Uhm....goodies?! I like goodies...and you get some pretty excellent stuff as well.
(My computer must've gotten excited because it blue screened during that last part)

I will also say that if you're signing up for the classes, don't miss out on the classes that focus more on the business side as well. I was lucky enough to be picked to attend the Contracts class while I was there and I feel like that was a really, really helpful class. It went over some things I probably wouldn't have thought about on my own and how to get those things right.

Gorgeous Model
What else did I have to say? Overall it was a great experience and I'm glad I took the trip over to do it.

Koren at Work
Below is a class picture. These ladies we so cool. Also, while on a group trip to get lunch together, they put some things in perspective for me. Like, lately everywhere I turn people have been telling me to do everything I want to do, love to do, etc. because I am still young and at the perfect age to do so. I guess meeting them and hearing pretty much that same message as well as some personal experiences made me feel more like I should take all the opportunities presented to me and do what I would really love to do, whatever that may be (I'm currently a professional floater...i don't know what I want to be when I grow up so I just let the wind take me wherever~)

I'm really glad we exchanged contact information and such. When I get a chance, I'll edit this to links to their youtubes and such since a few said they would be posting a review soon as well.

Class picture!
So, all in all it was a pretty good weekend. If I ever get the chance to, I will definitely be signing up to take the airbrush class. One day, one day. lol

Anyhow, that is it for me tonight. Officially hitting E right now.
If anybody would like to know what exactly the kit contained or had any other questions, feel free to shoot me a comment and I'll respond okay?

Until next time~ (^_^)v

    Sneak Peak~

So much to say, so much to say!

So let me gather my thoughts before I say it, since I have a bad habit of shrinking hours of story into two sentences.

Please accept that picture as a preview though (^_^).
